ORGANICS PICKUP
How to participate:
The Organics cart may be placed in front of your residence every other week for collection.
You should place the cart near the curb three feet from your drive way and three feet from your Waste cart.
Please note: your recyclable materials will be collected with a different truck than your regular waste, and consequently will be collected at a different time of day.
Organics Recycling Program. Bi-Weekly
Organics will be picked up every other week alternating with the recycling week. Place your Organics (grass clippings, leaves and small branches) loosely in your 96 gallon green toter. Wheel the toter out to the curbside for collection every other week on the same day as your regular garbage (Waste) pick up. Branches need to be no larger than 6 inches in diameter and cut short enough for the toter lid to close.

Holiday Schedule:
Waste and recycling or organics that is scheduled for pick-up on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day will not be picked up. Instead, it will be picked up on the following business day.
Acceptable Materials
- yard trimmings such as grass clippings, weeds, leaves, flowers, and branches
- branches must be less than 6 inches in diameter and less than 3 feet in length
- food waste such as plate scrapings, meat, vegetables, eggshells, bread, dairy, bones,
- food-soiled paper products and food-soiled cardboard products
How to participate:
Place loose organics in the green toter. Please do not use plastic bags. Do not tie branches and limbs or pack the waste into the cart.
Every other week, on your garbage pick up day, set the green toter out at the curb by 4:00 a.m. it's a good idea to set toters out the night before pick-up.
Please do not set out any extra material that will not fit into the cart with the lid closed. Organics collection will be fully automated, therefore, we will only collect organics which is placed in the green toter with the lid closed. Over-flow material will not be picked up. Please save extra organics for the next pick up. If you have an extra large lot, you may need an additional green toter in the Spring and Summer.
Do Not place the following in your Organics cart:
- plastic bags
- compostable bags
- palm fronds
- oleanders
- coated or painted wood
- wood from construction projects
- burn material
- ash
- poison oak
- tree limbs and branches larger than 6 inches in diameter and longer than 3 feet
- dirt, rock, concrete, gravel
- metal
- pet waste
- deceased animals
- liquids/chemicals such as oil, water, gas, fertilizer*
- no hazardous waste*
- trash. — Trash in the Organics cart can contaminate all container contents. Trash belongs in the gray container.
- recyclables — Recyclables in the Organics cart can contaminate all container contents. Recyclables belong in the blue container
*For proper disposal of chemicals and other hazardous substances, please visit the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
Extra Material
If you have extra material that will not fit in the cart with the lid closed, please save it for collection next week. Organics collection service is fully automated therefore, over-flow material will not be picked up. For large yards, an additional Organics cart may be needed during Spring and Summer month.

Christmas Tree Collection
Christmas trees may be set out on the curb for pickup on your scheduled trash day. Trees six feet tall and over should be cut in half. Flocked and treated trees may be set out as they will be separated at the Tracy Material Recovery Facility. Tinsel, ornaments and tree stands can not be recycled with the green waste and must be removed prior to pickup.
