The Community of Mountain House uses the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Transfer Station at 30703 MacArthur Blvd. to off load garbage. Large recyclables are pulled out and the remaining garbage is loaded into large long haul trailers that transport the residual waste 48 miles to the Foothill Landfill east of Linden. We still count on you to keep recyclables out of your trash by using your recycling container. You are the first step in the process!
COMPOST is available for a nominal charge per cubic yard at the MRF.
WHY RECYCLE?

Because its the law! California law required all cities to reduce the amount of trash going to landfills.
We are wasting natural resources and filling our landfills at an alarming rate. These actions are costing all of us a lot of money. By recycling, we save the natural resources that are required to produce new containers and paper.
We also save electricity and water used in the production of new items from recyclables. New Landfills are very expensive so when we extend the life of a landfill we are saving additional costs.
Each time we throw away an aluminum can, not only do we lose the future potential for that aluminum, we also use much more electricity and water to produce another can from raw resources.
